About Our Surrounding Bays
The intersection of the Aegean and the Mediterranean Seas, which essentially covers the area extending westwards from the Gulf of Marmaris and includes the Bozburun and Datça Peninsulas and the neighbouring islands of Rhodes and Symi, is a unique paradise for nature lovers, far away from mass tourism. The indented coastal line of the Turkish Aegean resembling the fjords of Scandinavia pays tribute to the power of the sea over time while remaining a favourite go-to place for holiday-makers, divers and sailors alike. The 820 km long ‘Carian Trail’, a salute to the prehistoric Carian civilisation that dominated the southern Aegean of Turkey, invites hikers to discover this special spot. The Bozburun Peninsula, named ‘Loryma’ in antiquity, constitutes one of the most important section of the trail. While featuring high biodiversity and fantastic natural features, the area has been categorised as a ‘hot spot’ based on projects run by the World Wildlife Fund and the United Nations Organisation. The Bozburun and Datça Peninsulas thus are declared conservation areas. Not only is Loryma Resort privileged to be in the midst of such a special region, it also is located right on the İçmeler-Turunç-Amos Route of the Carian Trails Bozburun Section.
